Goodwillie pleads guilty to assault

Blackburn Rovers striker David Goodwillie has issued a guilty plea to a charge of assault at the Glasgow Sheriff Court earlier today.

The 23-year-old has admitted to attacking John Friel in the Glasgow's Queen Street in November 2010.

Goodwillie's former Dundee United teammate Danny Swanson was knocked unconscious by Friel, resulting in the Scotland international Goodwillie confronting his friend's attacker.

CCTV footage showed Goodwillie punching Friel on the head and body.

Sentencing has been delayed until later this month.
