Blackburn determined to keep Samba

Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has revealed that two bids have already been turned down by the Lancashire side for captain Chris Samba.

The 27-year-old centre-back hinted today that he intends to leave the Premier League side amid fears of relegation.

"It's difficult to comment [on Samba's claims] because I haven't read the article and I haven't spoken to Chris on it at all, he trained very well [today]," said Kean.

"There was interest [in Samba] from last week. There were two bids last week that were refused and there was a statement put out by the club that he's not for sale and it's a strong statement that we're backing. We'd like to keep him and I'd like to end it at that."

Blackburn hit the headlines today with news of a reported bid for Fulham striker Andy Johnson.
