Southampton make Jack Butland enquiry

Southampton have approached Birmingham City regarding the availability of young goalkeeper Jack Butland, according to reports.

The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal said to be interested.

However, Blues manager Chris Hughton has said that Butland is part of his immediate plans as he prepares to sell Ben Foster.

Butland, who is currently on international duty with England ahead of Euro 2012, spent last season on loan at Cheltenham Town.
