Birmingham City recall Akwasi Asante

Shrewsbury Town have been forced to allow striker Akwasi Asante to return to his parent club Birmingham City.

Asante had been expected to remain at the League One outfit until Christmas, with the 20-year-old contributing to the club's 2-0 victory over Swindon Town last weekend.

However, after Nikola Zigic was ruled out until September, Blues boss Lee Clark has opted to recall the forward.

No Birmingham player has netted in the Championship this season, with their solitary breakthrough being an own goal from Yeovil Town's Dan Seaborne.
