Birmingham City manager Chris Hughton has admitted that he has "no excuses" after his team's 4-1 defeat at Southampton.
The Blues were looking to get back to winning ways after Thursday's Europa League loss against Braga, but they found themselves 3-0 down at the break.
"I'm certainly making no excuses because Southampton were the better side and deserved to win the game," Hughton told City's official website.
"They are a side with continuity who have been playing together, with the addition of a couple of new signings, for a couple of years now and right at this moment they have excellent momentum.
"They took their chances, and that was the main difference between the two sides."
The defeat leaves City in 14th, while Southampton move to the top of the Championship after the win.
