How Belgium could line up against Ukraine

Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco must work around the absence of the banned Dodi Lukebakio for Wednesday's Euro 2024 Group E finale with Ukraine at the MHPArena in Stuttgart.

Sitting second in the group on three points - a tally shared by all three of their rivals - Belgium will be through if they avoid defeat thanks to their superior goal difference and head-to-head record over Romania.

Tedesco promoted Lukebakio to the starting lineup for Saturday's 2-0 beating of Romania, but the Sevilla man was yellow-carded for the second time in the tournament and is therefore suspended for Belgium's final group game.

Either Leandro Trossard or Johan Bakayoko will be summoned to fill the void in attack, and the Arsenal man's experience should see him get the nod, thereby forcing Jeremy Doku to switch wings as he takes up his favoured position on the left.

While Romelu Lukaku somehow remains without a goal at the Euros, Kevin De Bruyne's 28th for his country at the weekend spared his blushes, and the duo will work in tandem in the final third once more.

Scorer of the quickest-ever Belgium goal at a men's major tournament - netting with just 73 seconds gone against Romania - Youri Tielemans has done enough to justify another start alongside Amadou Onana, and the same can be said for 37-year-old Jan Vertonghen at the back alongside Wout Faes.

Arthur Theate - who replaced Yannick Carrasco at left-back last time out - suffered a whack to the thigh against Romania but played down his concern as nothing more than a knock after the game, so he ought to be fine to reprise his role too.

Timothy Castagne and Koen Casteels are poised to complete the rearguard for the Red Devils, who are still waiting to learn whether Axel Witsel (adductor) and Thomas Meunier (thigh) will recover in time for any potential knockout matches.

Belgium possible starting lineup: Casteels; Castagne, Faes, Vertonghen, Theate; Tielemans, Onana; Doku, De Bruyne, Trossard; Lukaku
