Robert Lewandowski: 'Bayern Munich were awesome in first half against Porto'

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski describes the first half of his side's 6-1 Champions League quarter-final second-leg thrashing of Porto as "simply awesome".

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has described the first half of his side's 6-1 thrashing of Porto in their Champions League quarter-final second leg as "simply awesome".

The Bundesliga giants turned a 3-1 first-leg deficit into a 6-3 lead by the break at the Allianz Arena, thanks to Lewandowski's brace and further goals from Thiago Alcantara, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Muller.

Despite Jackson Martinez's 73rd-minute consolation for the Portuguese outfit, Xabi Alonso added a sixth on the night to comfortably see his side through to the semi-finals.

Lewandowski told BBC Sport: "The first half was simply awesome, it was totally great. We are Bayern and we can turn a 3-1 defeat around.

"We knew we had to push really hard. Five goals in the first half are absolutely crazy, of course."

Bayern's progress means that their dream of a Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League treble this season is still alive.
