BATE Borisov went into tonight's Champions League tie against Lille needing a victory to keep their hopes of progressing from Group F alive.

Lille had lost four consecutive European matches but took the lead early on when Djibril Sidibe curled home a superb strike from range.

Belgian striker Gianni Bruno doubled the visitors' advantage with a goal on his Champions League debut minutes later. BATE failed to find a response and slipped to a disappointing defeat which cements Valencia's position in the last 16.
