The Ligue de Football Professionnel has announced that Bastia striker Brandao has been suspended for six months for a headbutt on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta.
The Ligue 1 champions called for the governing body to issue the 34-year-old with a lifetime ban after he broke Motta's nose with a headbutt in the tunnel at Parc des Princes following PSG's 2-0 victory last month.
A statement read: "After hearing players Thiago Motta and Brandao accompanied by representatives of both clubs, the commission imposes a six-month suspension on Brandao for his actions towards Thiago Motta. Brandao will be qualified to play again from February 22, 2015."
Brandao, who has made just two appearances for Bastia following his summer arrival, will miss 21 league games.
