Mido has revealed that he hopes to have an impact at Barnsley following his move to the Championship club.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough striker switched to Oakwell from Egyptian side Zamalek on Thursday.
"I think Barnsley is a very important step in my career and hopefully I can do well here," the 29-year-old told Sky Sports News.
"I have played in different leagues - Holland, France, Italy and Spain - and always thought the best league for me and the way I play is England.
"I think it's a club with a lot of passion and hopefully me coming here will help them."
Mido has also played for Roma, Marseille and Ajax during his 13-year playing career.
