Harewood joins Barnsley

Marlon Harewood has joined Championship side Barnsley on a one-year deal.

Harewood, 32, was without a club after failing to earn a deal with Sheffield Wednesday following a trial in South Yorkshire.

The striker moves to Oakwell for the second time in his career after spending part of the 2010-11 season with the Tykes.

Harewood could be in for plenty of minutes as Barnsley striker Mido was ruled out for three months because of a hamstring problem last week.
