Kane Hemmings strike enough for Barnsley to beat Oldham at Oakwell

Hemmings goal sees Barnsley beat Oldham

A close-range Kane Hemmings finish proved enough for Barnsley as they saw off Oldham Athletic 1-0 at Oakwell in their League One clash this evening.

The only goal of the game came on 12 minutes, when Milan Lalkovic's cross was perfectly placed for Hemmings to volley home from inside the six-yard box with his right foot.

Barnsley had the better of the play for much of the game, Hemmings again volleying wide from a Ross Turnbull punt, and could have had a penalty on 68 minutes when Lalkovic went down in the box, but nothing was given.

Josh Scowen particularly impressed in the midfield for Barnsley, earning the man of the match award.

The win lifts the Tykes four places to 13th in the table, while Oldham stay 11th.
