O'Driscoll turns down Barnsley job

Sean O'Driscoll has turned down the chance to become the manager of Championship club Barnsley.

The former Doncaster Rovers and Nottingham Forest boss is considered to be one of the main contenders to take over at Wolverhampton Wanderers following the recent dismissal of Stale Solbakken.

"I've respectfully declined the opportunity to become Barnsley's next manager," O'Driscoll said in a statement.

"I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to have spoken to Barnsley. In my one meeting with the directors I was keen to ascertain exactly what the short and long term strategies and ambitions of the club are and how I maybe able to help the club achieve those.

"At no point were terms discussed by either party."

O'Driscoll was sacked as Forest manager on Boxing Day with the club in eighth place in the Championship table.
