Shakira to scupper Gerard Pique's Manchester United return?

Manchester United's reported pursuit of Gerard Pique is believed to have been ended by the defender's partner Shakira.

Recent speculation suggested that Pique, who left Old Trafford for Barcelona in 2008, would be open to the prospect of a return to Old Trafford in January because he does not believe that he is a major part of head coach Luis Enrique's plans.

However, Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, who has been in a relationship with the centre-back since 2010, does not want to leave Spain for Manchester, which is likely to end any chance of the transfer being completed, according to the Daily Mail.

Pique, 27, has made three appearances for the Catalans this season.
