Juan Carlos Valeron is confident that Deportivo La Coruna will get the better of Barcelona at Camp Nou in their La Liga clash on Saturday.

Deportivo La Coruna playmaker Juan Carlos Valeron has insisted that his side can defeat Barcelona at Camp Nou on Saturday.

The Galician club will head into the La Liga fixture struggling at the foot of the table with 17 points from 26 matches.

"The important points are to come later, but for our spirit and confidence, to get a positive result in Barcelona would be awesome and we will not waste the chance of a surprise," he told reporters on Wednesday.

"We will not waste anything. Though we know how hard it is, we have to go into the game against Barcelona with intent. They have a very important game next week and there may be a chance for us to get something.

"They have had some results that were not expected and you never know if that is for better or worse when facing Barcelona. They will want to change that dynamic and that makes them more dangerous. We cannot think about that, but of ourselves, playing a good game."

Barcelona are currently 11 points clear at the top of the table.
