Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez has affirmed that he was not mocking Ronald Koeman with his goal celebration against Barcelona on Saturday.
The ex-Blaugrana man departed Camp Nou in acrimonious circumstances in the summer of 2020 before leading Atletico's successful charge to the La Liga title last term.
Suarez netted Atletico's second in a 2-0 win over Barca in their most recent league battle before dialling an imaginary phone during his celebration, which some took as a reference to the way that Koeman informed him that he was not in his Camp Nou plans.
However, Suarez has insisted that there was no malice in his celebration, telling reporters: "It was for the people who know that I have the same number and that I am still using the same phone.
"It was not for Koeman, not at all. If you want to know... I had been joking with my children that I would do that."
Suarez's strike against his former club was his fifth strike from 10 games across all competitions this season, while Thomas Lemar also netted in that comfortable success.
