The hosts had a number of chances in the first period, but could not make a breakthrough in the first 45 minutes.

Afternoon all! Sports Mole's live La Liga coverage continues from the Camp Nou as Barcelona welcome Real Sociedad. The home side again have the opportunity to stretch their lead at the summit to five points and they will fancy their chances against a Sociedad team that has struggled away all season.

First and foremost, let me bring you up-to-speed with the all-important team news.

TEAMS:

BARCA: Bravo; Alves, Pique, Bartra, Adriano; Mascherano, Xavi, Rafinha; Neymar, Suarez, Messi

SOCIEDAD: Rulli; C.Martinez, Inigo, Mikel, De la Bella; Bergara, Granero; Pardo, Prieto, Canales; Vela

So there we have it. Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has made five changes to his XI this afternoon, with Claudio Bravo, Marc Bartra, Adriano, Rafinha and Xavi all starting at the Camp Nou. Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta and Jordi Alba have all dropped to the bench, but Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez continue in the final third. Dani Alves and Gerard Pique also keep their spots in defence.

Sociedad boss David Moyes, meanwhile, is still without the injured David Zurutuza, but the Scot otherwise has a full complement of options to choose from. Mexican forward Carlos Vela will lead the line with support from Xabi Prieto, while Mikel Gonzalez and Carlos Martinez both start at the back. Imanol Agirretxe and Gonzalo Castro, meanwhile, are both on the bench for the Basque outfit.

Incredibly, as it stands, this round of La Liga fixtures are the only confirmed matches in Spain's top flight before the end of the season. All Spanish football competitions will be suspended on May 16 amid a strike that relates to TV rights. The Spanish Football Federation are in a disagreement with the government, but there is hope that the situation will be rectified over the next week. Let's hope so!

Sociedad have actually won their last two games against Barcelona – including a 1-0 victory in the reverse match earlier this season. That said, Barca have won each of their last 16 league meetings with Sociedad at the Camp Nou, while Sociedad's away record this season suggests that it will become 17 this afternoon. Barcelona simply have to keep on winning due to Real Madrid's excellent form.

As it stands, Barcelona are top of the table on 87 points – two clear of second-place Real Madrid with three games remaining. The Catalan outfit have won 16 of their 19 league games in 2015 and are unbeaten in 11 since losing to Malaga on February 21. Luis Enrique's side will also enter the match off the back of a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

It is quite simple for Barcelona – win all three of their remaining league games and they will be champions. That is if the dispute in Spain is sorted! They are due to travel to Atletico Madrid next weekend, before ending against Deportivo La Coruna. Barca will also enter the match off the back of a 8-0 win over Cordoba last time out – moving them onto 105 league goals for the season.

Sociedad, meanwhile, will enter the match off the back of a 3-0 win over Levante last time out – a game that ended a run of six without a victory. As it stands, they are down in 11th on 43 points – five points off the top seven. They have only won one of their 17 away league games this season, meanwhile, and that has harmed their hopes of pushing further up the table. Since David Moyes took charge last November, Sociedad have won eight, drawn 10 and lost six times in the league.

PREDICTION! Have a look at what I had to say about this game here...

Here we go then. Both sets of players join us on the pitch for the first period. Can Sociedad cause a shock at the Camp Nou? We shall soon find out. The home side get the first 45 minutes underway.

As expected, the home side have taken control of the possession in the opening couple of minutes. You just get the feeling that Sociedad will need to remain tight in the early exchanges here.

The tempo is extremely high at the moment, with Barcelona pressing each time they lose possession of the ball. Alves has already delivered a super cross into Neymar, but Mikel Gonzalez was on hand to clear. Sociedad are very much playing with one up front and a five-man midfield in support.

Half-chance for Sociedad as a corner from Canales is met by Inigo Martinez, but his header was always dropping over the crossbar. The visitors have passed the ball pretty well in the opening five minutes.

Not too much to report in terms of chances in the early exchanges and Sociedad are certainly enjoying some possession in the Barcelona half. Granero attempts to slide a pass into Vela after finding space outside the box, but Rafinha is across to make the challenge. Barcelona not quite fluent thus far.

SAVE! Barcelona come close to taking the lead as Messi meets a cross from Alves, but the Argentine's header is just clawed over the crossbar by Rulli. Super effort and a really smart save.

CHANCE! Another wonderful chance for the home side as Alves delivers a super cross onto the head of Suarez, but the striker's effort is just wide. Two good chances in quick succession here!

Sociedad have not offered too much in the final third thus far, but Prieto is joining Vela when possible and there are indications that the Basque side will threaten as the game develops. Still goalless.

Just a reminder that Valencia will travel to Real Madrid in the 7pm start this evening so be sure to remain with us for that one. Barcelona continue to pass and probe outside the Sociedad box.

CHANCE! Barcelona again come close as Neymar combines with Messi before attempting to find the bottom corner, but Rulli is out to make another save. It could be 3-0 already.

Sociedad just need to be a little bit careful as they continue to drop deep, which is allowing Barcelona time and space to pick their passes. It is still goalless, but it does appear that the first goal is coming for the home side. Victory would move the Catalan outfit five points clear at the summit once again.

Sociedad are passing the ball very well at the moment, especially in the Barcelona half, but the final ball has not been present thus far. David Moyes will be pretty content with the opening 18 minutes.

Rulli plucks another Alves cross out of the air as Barcelona again break down the right.

Another half-chance for the home side as Messi delivers a super ball towards Neymar, but it just bounces at the wrong time and the Brazilian cannot make contact with his head. Messi, though.

The home side remain in control of events at the Camp Nou, but it is a case of 'so far, so good' for Sociedad, who have been able to ride out the opening 23 minutes without conceding here.

Vela breaks through on goal for the first time this afternoon, but the Mexican was just in an offside position when the ball was played from midfield. Finally some signs of life in the Sociedad attack.

Barcelona want a penalty as Inigo Martinez appears to handle inside the box, but the referee is not interested. The home side have just stepped it up once again in the last couple of minutes here.

BOOKING! Granero (Sociedad) is booked for a foul on Rafinha.

BOOKING! De la Bella (Sociedad) is booked for a poor challenge on Messi.

SAVE! Incredible chance for the home side as the ball falls for Pique inside the box, but somehow Rulli makes a save. Stunning goalkeeping and not for the first time this afternoon!

BOOKING! Bergara (Sociedad) is booked for a late challenge on Alves.

Barcelona continue to force the issue in wide areas, but Adriano's crossing from the left has not been as good as Alves's on the opposite side. Still goalless with little under 15 minutes of the half to play.

Carlos Martinez has a problem for Sociedad after a collision inside the box, but it does appear that the Spaniard will be fit to continue. Not too much happening in terms of chances at the moment.

CHANCE! Incredible chance for the home side as Messi delivers a super cross onto the heads of Neymar, who places one towards Suarez, but the striker can only poke wide. Wow!

CHANCE! Super chance for Sociedad this time as Bergara meets a loose ball inside the Barcelona box, but his effort is just deflected high of the crossbar. Poor defending from the hosts!

Sociedad are defending very deep at the moment and it is working as Messi runs into traffic outside the box. Can the away side keep a clean sheet until the break? Many teams have tried and failed!

Not too much to report in terms of chances in the last couple of minutes, but Barcelona have forced a few free kicks in forward positions. Xavi delivers the latest, but Inigo Martinez is on hand to clear.

CHANCE! More excellent defending from the away side as two blue and white shirts throw themselves in front of Rafinha, who had struck a loose ball inside the box. Still goalless!

The home side are in control of the possession as we approach the interval, but the final pass has been a little loose in the last couple of moments, with Neymar failing to find Messi inside the box. The pressure will only increase as the first period draws to a close and Sociedad will need to remain strong.

Sociedad continue to defend the edge of their own box as the interval approaches.

CLOSE! Alves strikes one from a wide angle and it almost finds the top corner. The Barcelona right-back has had a very good first 45 minutes at the Camp Nou. Still goalless here.

HALF-TIME: Barcelona 0-0 Sociedad

So there we have it. The referee brings the first period to a close with the two teams level at 0-0. In truth, Barcelona have had four or five excellent chances, but have thus far been unable to make the breakthrough. Sociedad have struggled in the final third, but will be content at this stage.

STATS! The home side have dominated the possession with 73%, while they have had eight attempts - three of which have been on target. Sociedad, meanwhile, have had two attempts, but hit the target just once. There have also been three yellow cards - all of which have come for the visitors.

BENCH WATCH! Barcelona have a wealth of talent on their bench this evening, with the likes of Alba, Busquets, Iniesta and Pedro all available. Sociedad boss Moyes, meanwhile, has options in the shape of Agirretxe, Castro and Finnbogason. Will we see any changes at the interval?

Here we go then. Both sets of players join us on the pitch for the second period. Can Sociedad hold on for what would be an incredible point? It is the away side that get the second 45 minutes underway.

No changes from either side at the break, which is not too much of a surprise. However, I suspect that alterations will occur if the score remains level for the next 15, 20 minutes at the Camp Nou.

SAVE! Another super save from the Sociedad goalkeeper as he denies Bartra from a powerful header. Barcelona have been on the front foot since the second period started here.

Neymar has an effort deflected just wide of the post as the pressure continues from Barcelona, who simply cannot afford to drop points in this game. Sociedad are under some serious pressure here.

GOAL! Barcelona 1-0 Sociedad (Neymar)

Barcelona make the breakthrough in the 51st minute as Neymar heads home at the far post following a super cross from Messi. Messi to Neymar and Barcelona lead - I have heard that one before!

Positive goalkeeping from Bravo as the Barcelona goalkeeper comes to collect a deep cross from Vela and takes a knock for his troubles. Moments later, Bravo departs his box to clear a through ball.

Barcelona are searching for a second here as Messi continues to force the issue. Suarez has a half-chance after more super work from the Argentine, but Carlos Martinez makes a super challenge.

Still no movement on either bench, but we are getting to the stage where both managers will be considering changes. Sociedad will always be in the game at 1-0, that is for certain. Just a reminder that after this match, Valencia will tackle Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Be sure to remain with us!

Not too much to report in terms of chances in the last couple of minutes, but Sociedad are threatening in the final third, with Vela more and more involved. The home side really want that second.

SUB! Barca make their first change as Busquets replaces Bartra.

BOOKING! Rulli (Sociedad) is booked for delaying a corner.

Messi finds space in a wide area once again, but the Argentine drills one into the arms of the Sociedad goalkeeper, who has been very good this evening. Little over 25 minutes remaining here.

BOOKING! Mascherano (Barca) is booked for a late challenge on Pardo.

It is still so delicately poised with little under 25 minutes of football to play at the Camp Nou. One goal for Sociedad would turn the match and indeed the title race upside down. Can they find one?

Still no movement on the Sociedad bench, which is a surprise at this stage of events. Carlos Martinez drives down the left for the away side before delivering a super cross into Vela, but the Mexican cannot make contact and Barca remain one goal ahead. There is a lot of tension inside the stadium here.

Messi has once again been the star of the show at the Camp Nou, with the Argentine just stunning each time he picks up the ball. Neymar again comes close to meeting a pass from Messi, but Rulli, who has had an excellent game, is out to make the challenge. It remains 1-0 to the hosts in Barcelona.

Inigo Martinez again throws himself in the way of a Messi strike, which had threatened to find the bottom corner. It is the home side pushing for the game's second goal at this stage of events.

SUB! Castro for Canales is Sociedad's first change of the match.

SUB! Barca make their second change as Iniesta replaces Xavi.

Little under 15 minutes of football remaining and Barcelona still lead courtesy of that Neymar header. There is real tension inside the stadium, however, with Sociedad very much a threat in attack.

BOOKING! Pardo (Sociedad) is booked for a late challenge on Neymar.

SUB! Sociedad make their second change as Finnbogason replaces Vela.

Possession football from the home side as we approach the final 10 minutes of action.

The tension is incredible inside the stadium as Sociedad threaten in the final third. Pardo strikes one from outside the box, but Busquets is on hand to make the block. Barca need that second goal!

SUB! Barca make their third change as Pedro replaces Rafinha.

Barcelona are not comfortable at the moment as Sociedad continue to press high up the field, which is causing tension inside the stadium. The hosts are also committing a number of late challenges.

SAVE! Barcelona again work the ball into the final third as Neymar combines with Messi before the latter tries his luck, but Rulli is on hand to make another smart save. Still 1-0 here!

GOAL! Barcelona 2-0 Sociedad (Pedro)

And there is the second goal. Barcelona surely wrap up all the points as Pedro produces a stunning over-head kick, which finds the top corner. Wonderful, wonderful effort from the Spaniard!

That should be enough to move Barcelona five points clear at the top of the table. Just a reminder that Real Madrid welcome Valencia in the 7pm start this evening. Little over two minutes remaining.

CHANCE! Messi curls just wide following a quick Barcelona counter.

The home side are going in search of a third goal here as we approach the final minute of normal time. Sociedad's resistance has been broken and now they are struggling to contain the pressure.

We are into the second of three additional minutes at the Camp Nou.

CHANCE! Super chance for Finnbogason after a quick counter from the away side, but the striker can only fire into the arms of Bravo. Sociedad are finishing this game on the front foot.

SUB! Sociedad introduce Elustondo in place of Granero.

FULL-TIME: Barcelona 2-0 Sociedad

So there we have it. Barcelona move five points clear at the top of La Liga with a 2-0 win over Sociedad. Thanks for joining Sports Mole for the action. Good evening!
