Gabi critical of "irritating" Neymar

Gabi admits that he was frustrated by the "irritating" Neymar in Atletico Madrid's loss to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey.

Gabi has revealed his frustration with the "irritating" Neymar, following Atletico Madrid's Copa del Rey exit at the hands of Barcelona.

A 3-2 victory in the Spanish capital handed Barcelona a 4-2 triumph on aggregate, and Gabi, who was dismissed at the break after confronting the referee, admits that Neymar's actions did get to him on the pitch.

"He's got an odd way of playing, particularly when he's winning," the midfielder told reporters.

"He's always making gestures on the field, especially when he's in front. Nobody likes to lose and these things irritate you."

Gabi was also critical of the referee's performance on a night when he and Mario Suarez were both shown red cards.

"I said, 'It was a penalty and a red card.' That was my disrespect, according to [the referee]. I'm sorry for my team," he added.

"I think the referee has to have much more personality and more respect for the players. We are all wrong sometimes. To be just, acknowledge your mistakes."

Atletico are back in action against Eibar on Saturday.
