How Barcelona could line up against Bayern Munich

How Barcelona could line up against Bayern Munich

Barcelona have Gavi fit for Wednesday's clash with Bayern Munich, with the midfielder recovering from the issue that forced him off the field against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

A blow to his adductor led to the youngster being substituted, but he is available for the European contest with the German champions and should be in the starting XI.

Sergi Roberto, though, is facing an extended period on the sidelines after dislocating his shoulder during his side's 4-0 victory over Athletic in La Liga.

Ronald Araujo is also still out following groin surgery, while Andreas Christensen (ankle) and Memphis Depay (hamstring) remain unavailable for Xavi's side.

Barcelona would see their hopes of reaching the knockout round of the Champions League end if Inter Milan beat Viktoria Plzen in the earlier match in Group C.

If that is the case, the Catalan outfit would be confirmed in third, but it should still be a competitive match, as Bayern would need to win to be confirmed as group winners.

Roberto's absence will open the door for Hector Bellerin to play at right-back, while Marcos Alonso could get the nod over Jordi Alba and Alejandro Balde at left-back.

Frenkie de Jong should also keep his spot in central midfield, with Xavi potentially featuring in the front three alongside Robert Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembele.

Barcelona possible starting lineup: Ter Stegen; Bellerin, Kounde, E Garcia, Alonso; De Jong, Busquets, Pedri; Dembele, Lewandowski, Gavi
