Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is still reportedly attempting to prise Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic from the Estadio Ramon.
The 25-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in European football, with his performances over the last couple of seasons drawing much interest.
Sevilla president Jose Castro said last week that the Croatian was close to extending his current deal, but thus far no official agreement has been reached.
According to AS, Simeone is preparing a big-money move for the playmaker, who has scored 12 times and contributed 16 assists this season.
Rakitic has also netted nine times in 59 games for his country.
