Goals from Tiago and Mario Suarez earn Atletico Madrid a 2-0 win at home to Espanyol in La Liga.

Champions Atletico Madrid have returned to winning ways in La Liga thanks to a 2-0 victory at home to Espanyol.

The hosts made their first-half dominance count on 42 minutes when Tiago looped a header into the net following Gabi's cross.

Atletico then extended their advantage with 20 minutes left to play as substitute Mario Suarez bundled the ball in from close range.

Diego Simeone's side almost made it 3-0 with five minutes remaining, but Antoine Griezmann could only hit the post after rounding the goalkeeper.
