Kieran Trippier hails Atletico Madrid mentality after Juventus comeback

Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier is impressed with the mentality of his new club after they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Juventus in Madrid.

Kieran Trippier has hailed the mentality of new club Atletico Madrid following their 2-2 draw with Juventus in the Champions League.

The La Liga side were 2-0 down but rallied to level the scores in the final 20 minutes of the match, courtesy of goals from Stefan Savic and Hector Herrera.

Trippier, a summer signing from Tottenham Hotspur, was effusive in his praise of the team's mentality, and in particular his new head coach Diego Simeone.

"We didn't stop, we didn't change, we kept on going, we always believed," Trippier said after the game, according to the Daily Mail.

"It shows great mentality to pull it back against a fantastic team. Since I came here, the mentality of the group, the coaching staff, Cholo [Simeone] has been immense.

"In training it's 100 miles an hour, we never stop, and we do exactly the same thing in games. When we went 2-0 down we knew we'd get opportunities. We kept on going and the crowd were fantastic as well – I've never experienced anything like it.

"On the training field I'm learning so much. I had a really good pre-season. I feel like I'm picking things up very quickly what the team expects from me, going forward and defensively. I'm aware of what they want from me and I'm just trying to deliver it."

Atletico Madrid's next match is a league fixture at home against Celta Vigo as they chase a surprise La Liga triumph.
