Ashley Westwood calls for 'patience' in Aston Villa's new style of play

Westwood calls for 'patience'

Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood has admitted that he and his teammates are enjoying the new style of play implemented by manager Paul Lambert, despite discontent from the fans.

A section of supporters chanted for Lambert to be sacked during Villa's 1-0 win over Blackpool in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Despite negativity from some fans, Westwood believes that the team are taking the right approach in games.

"We're keeping the ball and moving teams around the way that they used to do to us," the Birmingham Mail quotes Westwood as saying. "We feel like we are progressing. It's just about being patient now."

Villa currently reside 12th in the Premier League table.
