Aston Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner has denied reports that Randy Lerner has put the club up for sale.

Recent reports claimed that the American owner was actively looking to sell Villa for £200m.

"I can categorically confirm that Aston Villa Football Club has absolutely not been put up for sale and that Randy Lerner is not actively looking to sell the club," the Birmingham Mail quotes Faulkner as saying.

Lerner has invested more than £250m in the playing squad and improvements at Villa Park and Bodymoor Heath over the past seven-and-a-half years.
