David Moyes 'keen on Aston Villa job'

David Moyes is reportedly 'attracted to the challenge' of bringing Aston Villa back to the Premier League.

Former Manchester United manager David Moyes is apparently keen to take on the challenge of bringing Aston Villa back to the Premier League.

The Midlands side were relegated to the Championship on Saturday following a disastrous campaign that has seen them amass just three wins all season.

According to BBC Radio 5 live, Moyes "is attracted by the challenge of reviving" Villa next season but has not yet been contacted by the club, who are thought to be in the process of drawing up a managerial shortlist.

Villa's head of recruitment Paddy Riley flew to Spain last October to talk to Moyes - then manager of Real Sociedad - following the sacking of Tim Sherwood but negotiations stalled and Remi Garde was appointed instead.

Former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson is the bookies' favourite to take the reins at Villa Park, while other contenders include Mick McCarthy, Steve Bruce and Sean Dyche.

Moyes has also been tipped for the top job at Celtic amid growing pressure on Ronny Deila.
