Andreas Weimann welcomes competition

Andreas Weimann has insisted that he has no problem with the competition for places at Aston Villa.

Even though Weimann's fellow attackers Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor are currently injured, manager Paul Lambert still has the Austrian, as well as Libor Kozak, Nicklas Helenius and youngster Jordan Bowery at his disposal.

However, Weimann has revealed that rather than feel threatened, he has instead used the battle for a place in the team to help him improve his own performances.

"You are always under pressure. If you don't perform I guess you are not going to play but it's good for the team that we have players coming in that can deliver competition. Every time I play I just try to do my best to keep my place in the team," he is quoted as saying by the Birmingham Mail.

Weimann scored the winning goal during Saturday's 3-2 victory over Manchester City at Villa Park.
