Half-Time Report: AS Monaco heading for third

Monaco take a 1-0 lead in at half time against Rennes thanks to Bernardo Silva's goal.

AS Monaco are 45 minutes away from heading into the top three in Ligue 1 after taking a 1-0 half-time lead against Rennes.

Bernardo Silva's strike has given the home side the lead at Stade Louis II, and Leonardo Jardim's men deserve their advantage at the interval.

A quick attack down the right saw Ibrahima Toure deliver a ball into the box that Dimitar Berbatov just failed to connect with on 10 minutes.

Berbatov then saw a powerful volley saved shortly before the goal as the home side pressed for the breakthrough.

It finally came on 28 minutes when Silva netted his sixth goal of the campaign with a smart finish.

Yannick Ferreira Carrasco came close to doubling Monaco's lead with a free kick that flew past the post just before the break.
