Arsene Wenger 'quietly confident' of £11m Petr Cech deal

Wenger 'quietly confident' of Cech deal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident that he will sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, according to reports.

The 33-year-old is poised to leave Stamford Bridge after falling behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order under Jose Mourinho last season.

Mourinho was said to be reluctant to sell to their Premier League rivals, but Cech, who won four league titles with Chelsea, is understood to be desperate for the move.

Negotiations between the clubs have progressed well and Wenger believes that the Czech's £11m switch will materialise before pre-season, according to the Daily Mail.

Earlier this week there were reports suggesting that Paris Saint-Germain were keen to hijack the move, but Cech reportedly favours a switch to North London.

Cech started six Premier League games last season.
