Sporting Lisbon boss rules out William Carvalho exit

Sporting Lisbon boss Jorge Jesus says that he has no plans to sell highly-rated midfielder William Carvalho, amid reported interest from Arsenal.

Sporting Lisbon manager Jorge Jesus has insisted that he is not looking to sell midfielder William Carvalho.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Arsenal, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger reportedly keen to sign him this summer.

Jesus, who took charge of Sporting last month, says that he has no plans to allow the highly-rated Portuguese to leave.

"William is a certainty. Sporting has young players who are already certainties, not hopes or doubts. William will improve if the team does also," Jesus told SIC.

"Only players who value the team respond to winning titles. He's a player with the ability to play more. I have no doubt that with me will play more."

Carvalho made 41 appearances for Sporting in all competitions last season.
