Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright urges the Gunners to sack Unai Emery as head coach following Saturday's 2-0 loss at Leicester City.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has urged the Gunners to sack Unai Emery as head coach.

Saturday's 2-0 loss at Leicester City has left the capital giants eight points off the top four having made their worst start to a league campaign since 1982.

The 13-time English champions have only won one of their last seven matches in all competitions, but it has been reported that Arsenal chiefs are fully behind the Spaniard.

Wright, though, has insisted that his former club must make "the tough decision" to relive Emery of his duties with the team struggling for form heading into the latter stages of 2019.

"1 shot on target tonight!! 2 wins in 10 in the league. No definitive style or plan. Negative goal difference. No improvement in the defence. Not creating anything. Why would Laca or Auba renew? Can't blame them! We have to make the tough decision Arsenal! It's not getting better!" Wright tweeted following the loss at Leicester.

Arsenal will attempt to return to winning ways when they welcome struggling Southampton to the Emirates Stadium after the international break.
