Jack Wilshere believes that a trophy this season could pave the way for future success at Arsenal.
Wilshere, who has been an ever-present since his return from long-term injury earlier this season, insisted that he and his teammates are hungry for success.
Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw at Swansea City on Sunday and will face a replay next week, a game that Wilshere definitely wants to win.
"When you finish a career, you look back and see how many trophies you have won, so we all want one," he told the club's official website.
"We're all hungry for it and maybe a trophy this year can open the way for a few more. We've got a good crop of young players and experienced players as well.
"If we get a trophy this year, or in the next couple of years, we can really build something and be strong in the next few years."
Before a return match against Swansea, Arsenal welcome Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
