Wojciech Szczesny hits back at father's criticism of Arsenal

Wojciech Szczesny hits back at his father for criticising his Arsenal teammates and reveals that they haven't spoken in two years.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has hit back at his father Maciej for launching a verbal attack on his son's teammates around five months ago.

The shot-stopper's father defended Szczesny when the Polish player took most of the blame for the Gunners' 2-0 defeat to Southampton on New Year's Day.

Maciej criticised the ability of defenders Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, and now Szczesny has taken to his Facebook page to distance himself from his father, who he has not had contact with for two years.

On the field, Szczesny is vying for the number one spot alongside David Ospina for Saturday's FA Cup final against Aston Villa at Wembley.

The goalkeeper wrote: "Really shouldn't be dealing with this one day before the cup final but my father leaves me no choice.

"I have not spoken to him in more than 2 years and just like everybody else I have had enough of his idiotic comments about The Football Club and The Manager I owe so much to! Therefore please do not consider his comments as my shared view. Thank You for your understanding!"

If Arsenal are victorious tomorrow, they will have 12 FA Cup trophies in their cabinet.
