Arsenal have confirmed that defender Kieran Gibbs has undergone surgery on his groin and therefore will be out for a month.
The 20-year-old was initially expected to return against Aston Villa on Wednesday, having been out since October.
He suffered a setback in his recovery, however, and faces an extended spell on the sidelines.
The Gunners are currently short at full-back with Bacary Sagna, Andre Santos and Carl Jenkinson all ruled out with injury.
Arsenal continue their league campaign against Wolves on Tuesday afternoon.
