Knee injury rules Danny Welbeck out of FA Cup final

Arsenal are without Danny Welbeck for the FA Cup final as he has failed to recover from a knee injury.

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck will miss this weekend's FA Cup final against Aston Villa through injury.

The Englishman has not played in a month due to a knee problem and has not returned to training, leaving Olivier Giroud or Theo Walcott to start up front.

The Telegraph reports that England manager Roy Hodgson is now likely to start Jamie Vardy and Charlie Austin together as England take on Republic or Ireland in a friendly next month, as Welbeck will not be fit enough to start.

Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Debuchy could feature for the Gunners at Wembley Stadium, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has recovered from a groin strain.

Welbeck scored the winning goal in Arsenal's quarter-final win at Manchester United.
