Arsenal team news: Injury list vs. Aston Villa - Gabriel doubt, Jurrien Timber return date edges closer

Arsenal injury list vs. Aston Villa - Gabriel doubt, Timber return date edges closer

Arsenal will switch their attention back to the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, with Aston Villa heading to the Emirates Stadium for an intriguing battle.

The Gunners will enter the contest off the back of a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final in North London.

Arsenal beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 in the league last weekend, and Mikel Arteta's side currently sit top of the table, ahead of second-placed Liverpool on goal difference.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the capital club's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Villa, who are fifth in the division, level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Jurrien Timber

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Timber is currently the only Arsenal player unavailable for selection, with the Netherlands international still working his way back from the serious knee injury that he sustained last August. However, he has returned to training and is expected to be back in action before the end of the campaign.

Gabriel

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Knock Possible return date: April 14 (vs. Aston Villa)

Gabriel will face a late fitness doubt before his spot in the side is confirmed, with the Brazilian missing Friday morning's training session.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Arsenal have no players suspended for this match.
