Ajaccio relegated following Bastia defeat

Ajaccio have been relegated from Ligue 1 following a 2-1 defeat against Bastia this afternoon.

The visitors opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Aboubacar Demba headed in from Claude Dielna's free kick.

Florian Raspentino had a chance to draw his side level soon after, but saw his long-range effort saved by Guillermo Ochoa.

Ajaccio were inches away from doubling their lead midway through the first half when Dielna's free kick crashed against the bar.

Raspentino levelled the scores for Bastia just after the hour mark when he met Ryad Boudebouz's cross to head in from close range.

Ajaccio struggled to create chances after the break and in the 88th minute their fate was sealed when Sebastien Squillaci fired past Ochoa to end their stay in the top-flight.
