Neal Ardley: 'Second-half plan worked'

Ardley: 'Second-half plan worked'

AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley has given credit to his players after his side scored three second-half goals to see off 10-man Burton Albion in League Two on Saturday.

The visitors had Marcus Holness sent off early in the first half, but Adam McGurk's goal saw Albion lead at half time.

However, Ardley brought on Chris Arthur and George Porter after the interval as they overhauled their opponents, and he believes that the changes made to Dons' shape made all the difference.

He told the Hounslow Chronicle: "We came in at half time and had a chat. I'd rather lose the game two or three-nil than lose it 1-0 at home when you're playing against 10 men.

"They carried the plan out to the letter in the second half and full credit to the players."

AFC Wimbledon's win see them climb into the automatic promotion places, six points behind leaders Chesterfield.
