Monaco diver Ian-soren Cabioch: 'I could have played rugby for France'

Monaco diver Ian-soren Cabioch says that he could have played rugby for France if he had not chosen to focus on diving.

Monaco diver Ian-soren Cabioch has revealed that he gave up a promising rugby career in order to focus on competing for Monaco in diving at the European Games.

The 16-year-old, who will take part in the men's 1m and 3m springboard events, represented France as a full-back at Under-15 level before quitting the sport to commit to diving.

Cabioch told reporters: "Rugby didn't give me the same feeling as diving. Nobody hits you in diving, except the water.

"Maybe if I had carried on playing rugby I would have made it into the French senior team but I think I made the right choice. I have no regrets."

Cabioch has only been competing in diving since 2012.
