Trott out for rest of season

Jonathan Trott has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a fractured hand.

The England batsman missed today's final one-day international against South Africa at Trent Bridge after being struck by a Dale Steyn delivery in the previous match at The Oval.

Scans have now revealed that Trott will take no further part in the domestic season, meaning that he will miss Warwickshire's CB40 final and their County Championship run in.

However, England medical staff are optimistic that the 31-year-old will be fit for the winter tour of India in November.

Trott was replaced for today's match by Jonathan Bairstow, who made 29 as England were bowled out for just 182.
