Jonathan Trott has expressed hope that England's ICC Champions Trophy performance will show that the team are peaking ahead of this summer's Ashes series.

After winning two and losing one of their group stage matches, England bowled out South Africa for 175 in the semi-finals before wrapping up a seven-wicket victory.

Alastair Cook's side will face India in Sunday's final at Edgbaston.

"I hope we are peaking," Trott told BBC Sport. "There's a lot of cricket left this summer, and I hope it will be a great one for England.

"It's been a fantastic tournament [for England], with regards to coming back from a loss against Sri Lanka.

"We had the high of beating Australia first up, and then the game against New Zealand - a tight one in the end, but I thought we played really well - and to beat South Africa at The Oval was a great performance."

The Ashes series begins at Trent Bridge on July 10.
