Kevin Pietersen says that being sidelined for England's test series against New Zealand next month is "hurting" him.

England batsman Kevin Pietersen has expressed his frustration at being ruled out of next month's Test series against New Zealand due to his troublesome knee injury.

The England and Wales Cricket Board announced this morning that the 32-year-old will undergo a scan next week in order to decide when he can resume training.

Pietersen wrote on Twitter: "Injuries are a sportsman's worst nightmare! This one is hurting me the most.."

The batsman will be unable to compete in the Indian Premier League, but will try to get back to full fitness for this summer's Ashes series.
