Jake Ball to make England Test debut against Pakistan at Lord's

England captain Alastair Cook confirms that fast bowler Jake Ball will make his Test debut against Pakistan at Lord's tomorrow.

England captain Alastair Cook has confirmed that fast bowler Jake Ball will make his Test debut against Pakistan at Lord's tomorrow.

The Nottinghamshire player has been named in the team as a replacement for James Anderson, who was ruled out of the Test due to a shoulder injury.

Ball, who took 67 wickets across all formats of the game in 2015, has been included in three previous England squads, but he has finally been handed a chance to perform.

"[Anderson's absence] gives a great opportunity to Jake and one that he's really looking forward to," Cook told reporters this afternoon. "I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes.

"He has got wicket-taking balls in him. He's got the ability to get good players out on flat wickets."

So far in 2016, Ball has grabbed 37 first-class wickets at an average of 22.
