Ashley Giles: 'England made right decision over Kevin Pietersen'

Giles: 'No mistake over Pietersen'

Ashley Giles has insisted that England did not make a mistake by choosing to end Kevin Pietersen's international career.

The limited-overs coach has received criticism since the Twenty20 series defeat to the West Indies was confirmed, and Giles admits that he will continue to be asked similar questions as long as England keep struggling at the top of the order in the shorter format.

Asked if he thought it was a mistake for the ECB to sack Pietersen, Giles responded: "No. Until we turn this around at the top of the order, whoever the personnel might be, that's going to keep coming up.

"There is no point in going into a World T20 talking about someone who's not here, because that doesn't work.

"Kevin's not coming back, as far as I am aware, and what we need to concentrate on is improving those personnel."

England face the West Indies in the third and final T20 on Thursday evening.
