Essex sign Sajid Mahmood

Former England and Lancashire pace bowler Sajid Mahmood has joined Essex.

The 30-year-old, who ended his 10-year stay at Old Trafford in September, has signed a two-year contract at the County Ground.

"I'm really excited," he told BBC Essex. "I've been anxious the last couple of months seeing where I was going to go.

"Essex have given me an opportunity to show what I can do."

Mahmood has taken 323 first-class wickets at an average of 32.
