Alastair Cook: 'England didn't expect to get job done today'

England captain Alastair Cook admits that it is "great" to have defeated India inside three days of the fourth Test at Old Trafford.

Alastair Cook has admitted that he did not expect England to wrap up victory over India in the fourth Test as soon as they did.

Nine wickets for the hosts after tea earlier today saw them secure the win within three days at Old Trafford to edge ahead 2-1 in the series.

"We didn't think we'd get it done today, we thought we'd get enough cricket over the next few days," Cook is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"But it's great to do it in nine wickets in a session. The squad will enjoy tonight and a bonus couple of days off and rest up well before going to the Oval."

The fifth Test gets underway in London on Friday.
