Warner hits half-century as Aussies lead by 257

David Warner registered a half-century as Australia edged closer to a series victory on day three of the third Ashes test in Perth.

England, who were bowled out for 251 runs in their first innings prior to lunch, trail the hosts by 257 after opening pair Warner and Chris Rogers proved difficult to shift at the crease by recording 123-0 after 34 overs.

Rogers remains not out after hitting 42 runs off 110 balls, while his batting partner edges towards his century after striking 81 off just 94 deliveries at tea.

Stuart Broad was taken to hospital earlier for an X-ray on his foot to compound the misery for the tourists in what proved to be an indifferent first session for them.
