Kevin Pietersen undergoes knee scan

England batsman Kevin Pietersen has undergone a scan on his knee ahead of the final Ashes Test against Australia at The Oval.

Coach Andy Flower has denied the 33-year-old permission to play for Surrey in the Twenty20 finals day this weekend in order to regain his fitness.

A squad announcement by England is expected to be made on Saturday.

England are bidding to complete a first ever 4-0 win over the Aussies on home soil when the last Test of the series gets underway next Wednesday.
