England coach Trevor Bayliss: 'Changes could be made for third Test'

Trevor Bayliss has disclosed that he and national selectors will consider making changes to the England team following their heavy defeat in the second Ashes Test.

The Three Lions lost by 405 runs to Australia at Lord's as Michael Clarke's men tied the series at 1-1 due to a batting collapse on day four by the home side.

Reports have suggested that under-fire players Adam Lyth, Gary Ballance and Ian Bell could be dropped for the third Test, and Bayliss has admitted that he and the selectors are thinking about changes, although he is adamant that they will not be knee-jerk reactions.

He told reporters: "It wouldn't be a surprise to any player in the team that, when you play badly, positions are going to be looked at and discussed.

"All I'll say is two Tests ago they were selected because they were considered the best players in the country. That doesn't necessarily change after only four innings. But it's a concern that we are three or four for 40 and they know that."

The third Test begins at Edgbaston on July 29.
