Australia fast bowler James Pattinson believes that his nation can triumph in this summer's Ashes series in England

Australia fast bowler James Pattinson is confident that his nation's inexperienced squad can upset England in this summer's Ashes series on away turf.

Pattinson will make his Ashes debut after being named in the 16-man squad, which includes Brad Haddin as vice-captain.

The Aussies head into the highly-anticipated tournament on the back of a series whitewash to India, which was marred by disciplinary issues within the team.

"You don't want to lose 4-0 anywhere and losing to India was pretty disappointing, but hopefully we have learnt a few things over there," Pattinson told BBC Radio Five Live.

"We have a good talented bunch of guys and some experienced guys are coming in who can add something to the team, so I think all in all we have a good chance of winning the ashes and that is our main goal."

Only five of Australia's squad have previously played an Ashes Test match in England.
