Ashton Agar leaves Ashes tour through illness

Australian spinner Ashton Agar leaves the team's tour of England through illness.

Australian spinner Ashton Agar has left the team's tour of England due to illness.

The 19-year-old caught the eye with a knock of 98 on his debut in the first Ashes Test at Trent Bridge.

"Ashton has had a mild viral illness for the past week and needs some time to rest and recuperate," team doctor Peter Brukner is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"It has been a long tour and while he has handled the pressure extremely well, we thought it would be a good idea for him to get home as soon possible to have a short break before preparing for the domestic season."

Australia will be bidding to avoid a 4-0 series defeat for the first time on English soil when the final Test gets underway at The Oval on Wednesday.
